Jim provides highly customized executive coaching for individuals at different stages of their careers. His clients include C-suite and other executives, emerging leaders as well as key individual contributors. No two people are the same, nor are any two coaching engagements. Jim works with each client to build a unique plan to help her or him achieve both aspirational and behavioral goals.

A key principal of the coaching journey is choice and managing change instead of it managing you. The goal is for you to achieve the change you desire.

Jim helps develop a client’s ingenuity and capacity to change through questioning, active listening, challenging his or her thinking and being present during the process. He creates a safe and confidential environment with openness, transparency and a non-judgmental, respectful and positive attitude.

Jim’s Approach to Coaching

The foundation for Jim’s coaching work has been set in the Hudson Institute of Coaching methodology. A cornerstone of the Hudson approach is the concept of “Leading from Behind”. His ability to “walk” slightly behind a client, supporting, challenging and coaching to uncover the changes she or he has identified is a core aspect to the engagement. ESTABLISHING THE COACHING CONTRACT

In this phase we get to know one another and determine the goals you have for coaching.

DEFINING YOUR DESIRED FUTURE

This stage sets the foundation for success of the coaching engagement. We will assess what has worked well in your career and what parts can benefit from some attention.

DEVELOPING YOUR PLAN

This process is iterative and we will solidify the coaching plan around your key goals. We will identify essential steps that bring lasting, substantial and transformative change, as well as your strengths and any obstacles holding you back from achieving your goals. All of this information becomes the plan from which you will be working.

EXECUTING THE PLAN

We focus on actions to help you achieve your goals, leaving room to recalibrate as your progress unfolds.

CONCLUDING THE COACHING ENGAGEMENT

At the end of our work, we will examine the effectiveness of our engagement and the impact it has had on you.

Jim has been advising C-suite executives and senior talent for more than 25 years as a successful executive recruiter. The combined professional experience he brings with an earlier career in Human Resources and academic training in Industrial and Organizational Psychology provides Jim with the training and tools needed for a successful coaching experience.

Jim co-established The Prince Houston Group in 2009, after serving as Co-head of the Asset and Wealth Management Practice (Americas) at Russell Reynolds Associates. Prior to rejoining the firm in 1998, he served as a Principal at Morgan Stanley in the Human Resources department. Earlier, he worked at Goldman Sachs & Co. and at Citicorp Investment Management, Inc. Jim’s academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Psychology, graduating, cum laude, from the State University of New York at Geneseo and a Master of Science degree in Industial and Organizational Psychology from Purdue University. He has obtained the Associate Certified Coach (ACC) designation, is also certified by the Hudson Institute of Coaching, is a volunteer business mentor through SCORE and has served as a member of the Geneseo Foundation Board.
